On the 5th, the Zhangzhou Coast Guard in Fujian Province disclosed that it has comprehensively strengthened the inspection and control of the sea area. Recently, it has seized two cases of smuggling ordinary goods in the Longhai and Zhangpu sea areas, and seized two ships and two trucks involved in the case, as well as more than 400 "Taiwanese miscellaneous goods" involved. At around 23:00 on February 25th, the Zhangzhou Coast Guard learned based on clues that there were ships suspected of carrying out "Taiwanese grocery" smuggling activities in the waters near the Fotan Port in Zhangpu. The bureau immediately assessed the search and found unidentified individuals loading and unloading goods from a decommissioned sampan ship to a truck on the shore near the target sea area, with suspicious signs. The law enforcement officers of the bureau quickly surrounded the suspected target, and upon approaching, immediately revealed their law enforcement identity, launched a pursuit and arrest, and successfully controlled three suspects, one truck, and one ship. More than 200 suspected smuggled "Taiwanese groceries" such as betel nuts, electronic accessories, and prohibited books were seized on site. At around 22:00 on February 27th, the bureau seized another case of smuggling "Taiwanese groceries" in the waters near the Qianwan Bay of Longhai Lake. Five suspects were arrested on site, one ship and one vehicle involved in the case were seized, and more than 200 pieces of "Taiwanese groceries" such as drugs, health products, and wild yellow croaker were seized. Currently, the two cases are under further investigation. Since the Spring Festival, the Zhangzhou Coast Guard has implemented a "24-hour" duty mechanism in key coastal areas and waters, effectively reducing the space for maritime smuggling activities through round the clock patrols and lockdowns. Next, the bureau will continue to strengthen the patrol and control work in key sea areas, increase the crackdown on various illegal and criminal activities at sea, and effectively ensure the safety and stability of the jurisdictional sea areas.
