2025-03-04
Recently, the 62nd plenary session of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concluded in Hangzhou. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian introduced the results of the meeting at a regular press conference on the 3rd, stating that China will continue to be committed to building a fair, reasonable, and win-win global climate governance system, and promoting the common realization of green and low-carbon revitalization in the global South. Lin Jian stated that this is the first time the Chinese government has hosted an IPCC plenary session. With strong support and promotion from the Chinese side, the conference adopted the outline of the IPCC Seventh Assessment Report, clarifying the key directions for scientific assessment of climate change, laying an important foundation for consolidating the global scientific community's efforts and jointly improving the level of climate governance. On the path of green transformation and development, China has always been a 'fellow traveler' of countries in the global South He said that China has actively responded to the United Nations' initiative on early warning for meteorology, sharing observation data with 132 countries and regions around the world, jointly developing warning systems with countries such as Pakistan and Ethiopia, and sharing China's experience and solutions. Lin Jian stated that China has taken the initiative to undertake international obligations that are in line with its own national conditions and actual capabilities, promote green innovation achievements to hundreds of developing countries, reduce emission reduction costs for each country, and enhance global green production capacity. Low carbon demonstration zones, wind and solar power facilities, and energy-saving lighting projects are spread throughout Asia, Africa, and Latin America, transforming green energy from a luxury item to a daily necessity. We will continue to strive to build a fair, reasonable, and win-win global climate governance system, support developing countries in building their capacity and improving their technology to cope with climate change, and promote the common realization of green and low-carbon revitalization in the global South Lin Jian said.
