Hong Kong launches its first large-scale artificial intelligence model
2025-02-26
The Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center (HKGAI), funded by the InnoHK Innovation Hong Kong R&D Platform, a key innovation project of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, officially released the HKGAI V1 model on the 25th. This is Hong Kong's first large-scale artificial intelligence model, opening a new chapter in the development of artificial intelligence in Hong Kong. The head of the Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center introduced that this is the industry's first large-scale model based on DeepSeek full parameter fine-tuning and continuous training. This innovative achievement marks HKGAI's successful completion of DeepSeek's first localization in Hong Kong, injecting new vitality into the development of Hong Kong's artificial intelligence ecosystem and fully demonstrating the strong collaborative innovation capabilities between Hong Kong and mainland China in the field of artificial intelligence. Sun Dong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, delivered a speech on site, stating that artificial intelligence is leading a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, and Hong Kong is not absent from this wave of artificial intelligence. The SAR government has actively responded by building artificial intelligence supercomputing centers and launching a HKD 3 billion AI funding program. Currently, over 800 AI companies have gathered in the Science Park and Cyberport alone. He hopes that the large language model developed in Hong Kong can be based in Hong Kong and quickly provided to the industry and citizens for use, serving the public and future serving overseas Chinese worldwide. Guo Yike, Chief Vice President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology and Director of the Hong Kong Generative Artificial Intelligence Research and Development Center, stated that the launch of this large-scale model will further enhance its application capabilities in real-world scenarios. I believe this big model can contribute to Hong Kong's digital transformation, the construction of overseas Chinese big model ecology, and the development of global artificial intelligence. As of now, under the coordination of the Digital Policy Office of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, about 70 departments have participated in the trial of the large model assisted office application system provided by HKGAI.
