On February 24th, at the headquarters of the Christian Democratic Union in Berlin, Germany, Chancellor candidate of the German Federal Party, Mertz, attended a press conference. The dust has settled in the German Bundestag election, and the Alliance Party, with Friedrich Merkel as the candidate for Chancellor, won the election with 28.6% of the vote. The Election Commission predicts that Mertz will be nominated as the new Chancellor of Germany, and Mertz hopes to form a new German federal government within eight weeks. (New Society)
