The Hong Kong Good Citizen Award Ceremony 2024 will be held on the 23rd at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. At the ceremony, 80 people were awarded the "Good Citizen Award" for assisting the police in preventing and solving crimes and saving lives; Seven other organizations were awarded the "Good Institution Award" in recognition of their assistance to the police in promoting crime prevention and control work.
The Commissioner of Police of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Xiao Zeyi, attended the ceremony and delivered a speech, stating that the good deeds done by the award-winning citizens all happened in their daily lives. As long as every citizen remembers to "ask one more question, take one more step", it is possible to prevent a crime from happening and even save a life. The police continue to promote anti fraud work, but relying solely on police force is not enough. Every citizen needs to be vigilant and avoid themselves or their relatives and friends becoming victims of fraud.
It is reported that three students studying at Shenzhen University have won the Hong Kong "Good Citizen Award" for their brave actions in Hong Kong, saving a young woman who fell into the sea.  
The Pearl River Shipping Enterprise (Stock) Co., Ltd. is one of the winners of the seven "Good Organization Awards". The organization actively assists the Hong Kong police in promoting anti fraud information and organizes anti fraud publicity activities on its routes and passenger terminals.
Liu Guanghui, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Pearl River Shipping, said in an interview that enterprises have the responsibility to create an orderly and harmonious social environment for Hong Kong. Playing anti fraud videos on ships can enable citizens to learn about the latest fraud means and preventive measures while on board.
The theme of this year's "Good Citizen Award" is "Good Citizen, Good Story, Everywhere", jointly organized by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Police Force and the Fight Crime Committee, and supported by the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce. The award was launched in 1973 and the "Good Institution Award" was added in 2021.
