By 2024, the number of inbound and outbound passengers at various ports will reach 300 million, which is the same as the peak in 2019; The number of inbound and outbound vehicles reached 14.9 million, which is about 95% of the number in 2019. In 2024, Hong Kong Customs will continue to optimize port design and clearance modes in border control, attracting people from all walks of life to choose Hong Kong as a trade and logistics center. At the same time, actively recognizing, adapting, and seeking change, adopting innovative technologies such as artificial intelligence, big data analysis, cloud computing, and blockchain, adjusting law enforcement strategies, and strengthening cooperation with other customs organizations to take a more active leadership role in international customs affairs. Since July last year, Hong Kong Customs has taken over as the Vice Chairman of the Asia Pacific region of the World Customs Organization. Hong Kong Customs Commissioner Chen Zida stated at the meeting that the customs achieved results in drug enforcement, smuggling interception, cracking down on smuggled cigarettes, protecting intellectual property rights, combating money laundering, and safeguarding consumer rights last year.
