In order to effectively promote cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong and fully leverage the innovation and entrepreneurship advantages of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in disciplines such as "chips, artificial intelligence, and biomedicine", the Shanghai Industry Education Integration Center of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology was unveiled on the 22nd in Xuhui Binjiang, Shanghai. This is the first industry university research base located in the Yangtze River Delta region of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. It will undertake two core functions: "talent cultivation through the integration of industry and education" and "innovation incubation industry acceleration". It will collaborate with universities and enterprises in Shanghai to create an international ecosystem of talent cultivation, innovation driven development, and technology integration. HKUST Shanghai center adopts the coordinated development model of "one center, two bases". The two bases are located in Xuhui West Bank International Artificial Intelligence Building (West Bank Base) and Shanghai Artificial Intelligence Industry Agglomeration Zone "North Yang Artificial Intelligence Innovation Center" (North Yang Base). The former will mainly focus on cultivating industrial ecology and gathering industrial resources, while the latter will focus on building a highland of industry university research and the transformation of scientific research achievements. This time, more than 20 well-known scientific and technological innovation enterprises in Shanghai signed cooperation agreements with HKUST, covering information technology, finance, biomedicine, Internet, manufacturing, media, tourism and other fields. Among them, HKUST, Shanghai Xuhui District Government and Shanghai Caohejing Emerging Technology Development Zone Development Corporation signed a tripartite cooperation agreement. Through the establishment of Shanghai center, HKUST will carry out comprehensive cooperation in education, scientific research and other aspects. The relevant person in charge of the Shanghai Municipal Government stated that the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology is a world-renowned university, Xuhui District is an important carrier area for Shanghai's education and science and technology innovation center construction, and Caohejing Emerging Technology Development Zone is a first-class science and technology innovation park. This tripartite signing is a powerful action to implement the vision of cooperation between Shanghai and Hong Kong. HKUST has also established strategic partnerships in the medical field with Fudan University Shanghai School of Medicine, Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine, Tongji University School of Medicine, and ShanghaiTech University. After the inauguration of HKUST Shanghai center, HKUST will provide students with a new learning path, so that students who take the designated two-year master's program can choose to take courses in Shanghai for one year. HKUST will also establish the Yangtze River Delta Science and Technology Innovation Fund to provide technical support, equipment sharing, experimental sites and other services to relevant partners, helping to reduce entrepreneurial costs and improve the conversion rate of scientific and technological achievements.
