The Hong Kong Airport Authority announced on the 21st that the passenger volume of Hong Kong Airport will reach 53.1 million and the number of aircraft takeoffs and landings will exceed 363000 in 2024, an increase of about 34.3% and 31.6% respectively compared to 2023. The total cargo volume will be 4.9 million tons, an increase of 14% year-on-year. The Airport Authority stated that the number of aircraft takeoffs and landings in December 2024 reached 33550, an increase of 12.5% year-on-year, close to pre pandemic levels, and some single day takeoffs and landings even exceeded pre pandemic levels. The passenger volume was 5.1 million, an increase of 18.3% year-on-year, with the most significant growth occurring between Southeast Asia, mainland China, and Japan. The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Airport Authority, Carrie Lam, stated that 2024 will be a fruitful year for the Hong Kong International Airport, with the three runway system completed on time and within budget, and officially put into operation in November. During the Spring Festival, Hong Kong Airport will experience a peak in tourism, and several airlines plan to increase flights to meet market demand. The Airport Authority stated that Hong Kong Airport is further expanding its air traffic network, with multiple airlines offering new destinations and routes to and from Hong Kong since the beginning of this year.
