This missile model ASN4G, codenamed "Prometheus", is used to replace the air launched supersonic nuclear cruise missile currently equipped by the French Air Force, becoming the new generation of France's air based nuclear force. According to reports, the ASN4G air launched hypersonic nuclear cruise missile will be equipped with a new generation of nuclear warheads and a new type of scramjet engine, with an expected flight speed of 6 to 7 Mach and good maneuverability, capable of evading radar detection and interception by air defense systems. This type of missile has a range of over 100 kilometers, which is twice that of the previous generation of air launched supersonic nuclear cruise missiles.
