After contracting the flu, try to take medication within 48 hours as much as possible

2025-01-07

Recently, respiratory infectious diseases have entered a high incidence season. Kan Biao, Director of the Institute of Infectious Disease Prevention and Control at the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, stated that among patients with symptoms similar to influenza who seek medical treatment at hospitals, the positive rate of pathogens such as influenza virus, rhinovirus, human partial lung virus, and Mycoplasma pneumoniae is relatively high. Among them, the positive rate of influenza virus detection has shown a significant upward trend recently, and it will continue to rise in the coming period; The main infected population of Mycoplasma pneumoniae is children aged 5-14 years old, among which the positive rate in northern provinces of China is decreasing, while in southern provinces it has been at a lower level since last autumn. Novel coronavirus infection and other respiratory pathogens are now at a low prevalence level. From the current situation, the scale and intensity of respiratory infectious diseases are lower compared to the same period last year. Regarding the issue of medication, at a recent press conference held by the National Health Commission, Wang Quan, chief physician of Beijing Children's Hospital, said that respiratory infections are mainly caused by viral infections, and antibiotics have no effect. It is not recommended to use antibiotics on one's own. Wang Quan said that after children are infected with influenza, fever is the main manifestation, accompanied by symptoms of overall discomfort, including muscle pain, headache, etc. In addition, there may be some respiratory symptoms, including coughing, runny nose, sneezing, sore throat, etc. Children are more likely than adults to experience nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, or poor appetite after contracting the flu. After being infected with influenza, antiviral and symptomatic treatment should be the main approach. If a child is diagnosed with influenza, it is important to use anti influenza drugs as early as possible, preferably within 48 hours, rest at home, and avoid going to school while sick. Symptomatic treatment mainly focuses on reducing fever and relieving discomfort. Fever reducing drugs can be selected reasonably according to the child's age and weight, and taken according to the instructions. Choose medication to alleviate the child's cough and nasal congestion symptoms. (New Society)
