We gather in Liangzhu to discuss literature, which inevitably involves the long history of Chinese civilization. Of course, outside of Liangzhu, we would also discuss literature in other places. It is precisely because of places like Liangzhu that literature has become a more historically profound, multidimensional, and even high-density topic. Literature has come from the depths of civilization and can be called literature, although it was much later than the Liangzhu civilization. The literature we speak of on this land today must have a Liangzhu flavor. What is the scent of Liangzhu? Between 4300 and 5300 years ago, Liangzhu was a historical scene and spiritual landscape where humans lived and worked in peace and order on a large scale, and created new models of production and development such as cities and water conservancy. As a result, Liangzhu is also known as the "First City of China". The large-scale and comprehensive urban life, including the exquisite pottery, jade, stone tools, and lacquerware unearthed, makes us feel the basic components of literature such as faith, aesthetics, creation, management, division of labor, and cooperation, because behind the material is the temperature and imprint of human beings. The comprehensive reflection of Liangzhu's breath is the breath of human life. The ancestors of the Chinese nation, spanning four to five thousand years, are telling us vivid stories about people and literature that are more exciting than words. Civilization is a vast social process, a complex chain that becomes increasingly fragmented and even unrelated as we look back to ancient times. Millions of years of human history, ten thousand years of cultural history, and over five thousand years of civilization history are constantly being discovered as isolated nebulae, ultimately painting a picture of the evolution of human civilization. Today, aircraft can reach people from all directions within a few tens of hours. People have almost filled every corner of this planet, civilization is almost everywhere, and it can be said that the sky is full of stars. But no matter what civilization it is, human activities are the touchstone. Knowing people and yourself is the foundation of civilization. And literature, on this basis, blooms and bears fruit. To understand literature, one must inevitably return to the roots of various forms of civilization, search for the complex riverbed trends of the primitive stage, and identify landmarks based on them, creating new forms of civilization that correspond to our times and integrate ancient, modern, Chinese, and Western cultures. A prominent feature of Chinese civilization is its unparalleled continuity. The discovery of the Liangzhu civilization has established a solid chain of five thousand years of recorded history for us. The vast Chinese civilization is not only a fertile ground for historians, anthropologists, and archaeologists to gallop, but also a blue sky for writers to soar up to 90000 miles. Historian and literary figure Sima Qian vividly explained this point. He wrote the history of Chinese civilization over three thousand years before himself. The Records of the Grand Historian is a historical masterpiece and a great literary classic. The ancient ideas, emotions, personalities, human nature, ethics, as well as morality, spirit, values, worldviews, etc., still shape the form and soul of generations on this broad stage, and will continue to exert great power for a long time. From this, I think of a very excellent tradition in Chinese culture - the historical official system, and its important cultural and spiritual connotations. The ancient Chinese philosopher Confucius wrote the "Spring and Autumn Annals", which contains a broad reflection on the "formation of human culture". From Sima Qian to Ban Gu, and then to Ouyang Xiu and Sima Guang, including Ji Xiaolan, who compiled the Complete Library of Four Treasures, they are all related to literature and can even be regarded as great literary figures. Confucius' processing and organization of the Book of Songs was entirely the work of a literary figure and editor. Although his value and significance can be discussed within the scope of thought, education, and indoctrination, it is estimated that he does not oppose history's inclusion of him in the literary ranks. We also pay tribute to him for his aesthetic value in art, which has spread throughout the world. Literature is a kind of memory, in this sense, it has a nature similar to that of a historian, recording the historical stage we are in. Being a good secretary of the times is the choice of history for literature, and it is also an important path for literature to be regarded as history. Anything that develops to a certain extent will inevitably experience a state of 'messy flowers gradually captivating the eyes'. Faced with abundant world information, literature also faces a problem of focusing on human concerns. Realism, Romanticism, Naturalism, Symbolism, Magical Realism, Aestheticism, etc., in short, are the traditional, modern, and postmodern armies singing their horns and flags hunting together. However, the key is how to align everything with the real society and make a literary voice. Literature cannot pursue its rapid utility in the face of material reality, but 'useless things' ultimately become useless, which is also the sadness of literature. Where literature comes from and where it is going remains a classic philosophical proposition. There is a particularly important phenomenon in the development of human history, which is that when advancing to a certain stage, we need to look back for the resources that once bloomed. Western literature and art continue to return to ancient Greece, and in modern times, they repeatedly look back at the Renaissance era. The historical trajectory of the Chinese nation also reveals the bright and shining light of tracing back to the flourishing period of spiritual thoughts such as Confucius, Mencius, Laozi, and Zhuangzi. By the Qing Dynasty, the development of Chinese opera had reached a point where it was difficult to understand scripts without holding a lantern. As a result, a collective "returning to the ancestors" naturally emerged to seek the popularity of Song and Yuan dynasty dramas. Calligraphy art had reached a static state of "exquisite play" by the Qing Dynasty. Some people immediately returned to the Han Dynasty clerical script with long spears, spears, knives, and axes, and quickly opened up a sky, allowing this art to once again "flow eastward". Our literature and art, in the era of artificial intelligence, looking back at Ming and Qing novels, Tang and Song poetry, pre Qin literature, and even the Liangzhu civilization, is a need to establish cultural confidence and a source of new creative vitality. In Pu Songling's view and Wu Cheng'en's view, there is no absolute boundary between time and space, body and soul, nature and biology, starry sky and flowers. There are too many contradictions in reality, indicating the common proposition of humanity. Any writing that deeply involves literature is a shining moment of literature, including the magnificent writing of heroism and the struggle for national justice. A long list of great writers can be listed. However, once literature only enters into the realm of personal emotions, moods, and flashy singing, it quickly reduces its recognition and resonance. This is a question worth reflecting on in today's world literature. A large number of historical facts indicate that literature is closely related to the development of human society, and the creativity of literature can only come from the resonance of the world and the "main battlefield" of human social development. Literature needs to break away from niche and individualistic perspectives, to reflect on the spirit of the times, and to constantly reflect on the entire process of civilization, in order to grasp a certain atmosphere and regain the glory of "Records of the Grand Historian," "Dream of the Red Chamber," "War and Peace," "Human Comedy," and "Les Mis é rables. This glory is the continuous creation of individuals and the times, literature and reality, as well as the integration and transformation of vast traditions. If you don't care about others, they won't care about you. Literature is the same, if you don't pay attention to reality, reality will treat you like a stranger, each walking their own path. From Sima Qian, Du Fu, Guan Hanqing, Lu Xun, Shakespeare, Tolstoy, Balzac, and Hugo, we see unique creations that are as sharp as swords and as gentle as flowing water. We see the patriotic sentiments that respond to and solve human spiritual and practical difficulties through historical or literary means. Literature is both historical and contemporary; It is both political and economic; It is ethical and legal; It is both ideal and practical. The experience and lessons of history are hidden in the endless evolution of civilization. The reason why literature has received high respect in the evolution of civilization at different times is that it always focuses on the central theme of humanity and firmly holds onto it. Sometimes it is the crown jewel on that brilliant civilization. Civilization requires us to constantly restore beauty, create beauty, and practice beauty. Modernity is a stage cognition endowed by history and tradition, which will soon enter the sequence of tradition, but the tradition that extends to the future will not disappear. The Tao remains unchanged, and so do the people. Starting from individual experience, deeply understanding the times, innovating traditions, and returning to reality, this is the essence of literature and the empathetic "quantum entanglement" in the exchange and dialogue of world civilizations. Civilization is a shared heritage of humanity, and literature needs to pursue clear "development" with more powerful, three-dimensional, and full images in the rippling waves and deep currents of civilization.
