On September 17th, Hong Kong Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced during a media briefing before attending the Executive Council that he will lead a delegation of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government to Beijing on September 19th to attend the opening ceremony and theme promotion activities of the 27th "Beijing Hong Kong Economic Cooperation Seminar and Investment Hong Kong Promotion Conference" (Beijing Hong Kong Seminar) to be held in Beijing on September 20th. The members of the delegation of the Special Administrative Region government include Financial Secretary Paul Chan, Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury Xu Zhengyu, Secretary for Transport and Logistics Lin Shixiong, Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry Sun Dong, and Director of the Chief Executive's Office Ye Wenjuan. The SAR government also organized a delegation led by major chambers of commerce in Hong Kong, consisting of well-known figures from the Hong Kong business community and business representatives, to attend the conference through the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Invest Hong Kong, and Key Enterprise Introduction Office. Li Jiachao said that over the years, the Beijing Hong Kong Fair has promoted extensive and in-depth exchanges and cooperation between the two governments, enterprises and investors in different fields, including finance, professional services, science and technology, and the construction of the "the Belt and Road", promoting high-level mutual benefit and win-win results between Beijing and Hong Kong and creating significant economic value. Taking last year as an example, the Beijing Hong Kong Fair signed 34 major bilateral investment projects, covering multiple fields such as business, technology services, cultural tourism, and digital economy. It is reported that this year's Beijing Hong Kong Business Fair, with the theme of "complementary advantages and co creation of prosperity", will hold 15 special promotion activities and other supporting activities. For the first time, a "Invest in Hong Kong" theme promotion activity will be added, focusing on Hong Kong's unique advantages, business environment, and measures to promote cooperation between enterprises in Beijing and Hong Kong. Li Jiachao stated that the delegation of the Special Administrative Region government will focus on promoting Hong Kong, with a particular emphasis on the three highly advantageous industries of finance, technological innovation, and commercial logistics. Li Jiachao will return to Hong Kong on September 21st. During his absence from Hong Kong, the Chief Secretary for Administration, Chen Guoji, acted as the Acting Chief Executive. (New Society)
