2024-09-11
The 2024 Hong Kong International Charity Forum concluded on the 10th in the West Kowloon Cultural District of Hong Kong. At the first symposium speech of the forum on that day, the Asian Philanthropy Research Program was officially announced to be launched. At the closing ceremony of the forum, Ying Jiabai, CEO of the Hong Kong Jockey Club and Director of the Institute for Public Welfare and Charity Research, stated that the launch of the Asian Public Welfare and Charity Research Program aims to fully utilize the collaborative power of Asian public welfare and charity organizations. This research plan collaborates with 10 top foundations in Asia to build a charity ecosystem that is rooted in Asia and benefits Asia, in order to strengthen the capabilities of the Asian charity industry. It is reported that the Asian Philanthropy Research Program lasts for 3 years, with founding partners including the Soong Ching Ling Foundation of China, the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Chan Kong Wo Foundation, and the Tencent Philanthropy Foundation. This forum brings together over 2000 renowned philanthropists, industry leaders, policy implementers, non-governmental organizations, and experts from around the world. This forum is hosted by the Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust and co organized by the Public Welfare and Charity Research Institute. The Public Welfare and Charity Research Institute was announced to be established by the Hong Kong Jockey Club and its charitable trust fund in September last year. In response to the theme of the current Hong Kong International Philanthropy Forum on "Achieving Results through Public Welfare", the Institute of Philanthropy has published two commissioned reports, including "Exploring Trust and Measurement in the Asian Philanthropy Industry" jointly published by the Institute of Philanthropy and McKinsey. This forum also marks the beginning of Hong Kong's "Charity Week". The Public Welfare and Charity Research Institute will hold the "Public Welfare and Charity Foundation Summit" on the 11th, which brings together leaders from over 55 international charitable organizations to promote exchange, knowledge sharing, mutual learning, and cooperation, supporting the Hong Kong SAR government's vision of promoting Hong Kong as an international charity center.
