On the 20th, the Hong Kong Whampoa Military Academy Descendants Association held a series of activities called "Whampoa Centennial, Passing on the Torch" in Hong Kong, welcoming representatives from five provinces including Sichuan, Hubei, Guizhou, Zhejiang, and Shaanxi to attend the Global Overseas Chinese Conference on Promoting China's Peaceful Reunification. Dozens of Huangpu descendants, relatives, and representatives of related organizations took a group photo at Zhongshan Memorial Park in Hong Kong. During the event, dozens of Huangpu descendants, relatives and friends, as well as representatives of relevant institutions, went to the Sun Yat sen Memorial Park in Hong Kong to jointly commemorate the great significance of Sun Yat sen's founding of the military academy and the indelible contributions made by Huangpu predecessors to the Chinese nation. Lin Jiping, the president of the association, stated that the association was established in Hong Kong in 2016. Over the past eight years, the association has organized many activities to promote the spirit of Huangpu and has also led young people from Hong Kong to visit the historical relics of Huangpu Military Academy in mainland China. Youth is the future of Hong Kong, and the purpose of holding the Whampoa Centenary Torch Inheritance Series is to inherit the Whampoa spirit in Hong Kong, especially among Hong Kong youth. Xiu Yupeng, a member of the association, stated that the association has organized multiple activities, including visiting the former site of Huangpu Military Academy, paying respects to Huangpu martyrs during Qingming Festival, promoting exchanges between Guangdong and Hong Kong Huangpu, holding a touring exhibition of Huangpu's century old history pictures, hosting a Huangpu Spirit Forum, and a youth Huangpu essay competition. I hope to better promote the history and spirit of Huangpu, and let more young people understand the heroic deeds of the teachers and students of Huangpu Military Academy. (New Society)
