The election day for the Chief Executive of the Macau Special Administrative Region has been determined

The Macao Special Administrative Region Gazette published Executive Order No. 40/2024 on the 12th, designating October 13, 2024 as the date for the election of the Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region. According to Annex I of the Basic Law of the Macao Special Administrative Region and the Election Law for the Chief Executive, the Chief Executive shall be a Chinese citizen who is at least 40 years old, has resided continuously in Macao for at least 20 years, and is a permanent resident of the Macao Special Administrative Region who supports the Basic Law and is loyal to the People's Republic of China and its Macao Special Administrative Region. The Chief Executive is elected by a broadly representative Chief Executive Election Committee consisting of 400 members from four sectors, appointed by the Central People's Government for a term of 5 years and renewable once.
