2024-07-31

On the 30th, the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department announced that since the beginning of this year, the public security organs of the province, together with relevant departments, have cracked down on a total of 1043 smuggling cases, seized a large number of smuggled frozen goods, cigarettes, high-end electronic products, cosmetics, alcohol and other smuggled items, and achieved significant results in cracking down on smuggling work. It is reported that in accordance with the deployment requirements of the Ministry of Public Security, the National Anti Smuggling Office, and the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee and Government, the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department has deployed public security anti smuggling departments at all levels in the province to carry out major special work such as anti illegal immigration and anti smuggling joint operations, special operations to crack down on maritime smuggling crimes, and special operations to crack down on smuggling crimes in the Beibu Gulf, focusing on key areas, key links, and behind the scenes networks of smuggling activities, and implementing precise strikes throughout the entire chain. The anti smuggling department of the Maoming police in Guangdong Province has strengthened patrols along the coastline and conducted investigations into high-risk areas in key industries. The Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department has also released several typical cases of cracking down on smuggling crimes. In the "5.16" cross-border smuggling case of rare plants and their products in Maoming, it was reported that in February 2024, Maoming Public Security analyzed the clues reported by the Hong Kong police and found that a cross-border gang had repeatedly smuggled agarwood from overseas for profit. Relying on the cooperation mechanism between Guangdong and Hong Kong to prevent and combat smuggling crimes, the Maoming Public Security Bureau and the Hong Kong Marine Police Regional Serious Crime Unit jointly conducted a case investigation, gradually mastering the criminal facts of the gang using the method of concealment to smuggle overseas agarwood into the country for further processing and sales. In March, under the overall coordination of the Ministry of Public Security, the Public Security Department of Guangdong Province organized the Maoming Public Security Bureau to cooperate with the Hong Kong police to carry out network capture operations in many places in Guangdong Province, captured 11 suspect, and verified the smuggling of 100 kg of overseas wild agarwood, with a case value of about 5 million yuan. In the "1.27" maritime cross-border smuggling case in Zhuhai, it was reported that in January 2024, the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, together with the Guangdong Coast Guard Bureau, discovered a criminal clue of organizing high-powered speedboats and "three no" fishing vessels to smuggle along the coast during the national special operation to combat maritime smuggling crimes. Through in-depth analysis and judgment, a criminal gang has gradually expanded, consisting of domestic and foreign smugglers who organize boats to smuggle frozen goods and cigarettes into the country for sale. In April, under the overall coordination of the Ministry of Public Security, the Guangdong Provincial Public Security Department, together with the Guangdong Maritime Police Bureau, organized and directed Zhuhai public security and maritime police departments, and cooperated with the public security organs of five provinces and cities in the province, including Sichuan and Chongqing, to carry out a unified network operation on the case. Forty suspect were arrested, seven private boats were seized, and about 750 tons of frozen goods and more than 30 million cigarettes were smuggled, with a case value of more than 82 million yuan.
