On July 12, the National Cutural Heritage Administration held a meeting in Beijing on the important progress of the "Archaeological China" major project, which released the latest progress of four archaeological projects, namely, the Jizhong site in Shaoxing, Zhejiang, the salt industry archaeology in Yancheng, Jiangsu, the Jinglongmen site in Tokyo, Kaifeng, Henan, and the urban archaeology in Huai'an, Jiangsu. The conference focuses on important achievements in urban archaeology. The discovery of architectural foundations from the Yue and Han dynasties at the Jizhong site in Shaoxing, along with the excavation of ink characters such as "Kuaiji" and "Shanyin", confirms for the first time the existence of Yue architecture within the ancient city of Shaoxing, providing important clues for exploring the capital city of Yue; The discovery of two Han dynasty level official buildings is an important archaeological finding in the counties of the Han dynasty. A series of archaeological discoveries in the salt industry in Yancheng City have continuously clarified the historical development of salt production in the eastern Jianghuai region of China. Among them, the Shajingtou site is speculated to be the location of Yandu County in the Western Han Dynasty, while the Miaohang and Houbeituan sites have been verified as salt production clusters that continued from the Tang Dynasty and the Southern Song Dynasty to the Ming and Qing Dynasties. This has important value for studying the central government's management of salt production in coastal areas since the Western Han Dynasty, as well as the technological inheritance and development of salt making techniques in different periods. The Kaifeng Jinglongmen Site is a city gate site located in the middle of the north wall of the Northern Song Dynasty's Dongjing City. The overall structure of the city gate is a one door three track style, consisting of a doorway, partition walls, and two side piers. It is currently the largest and highest specification city gate site discovered in archaeology during the Northern Song Dynasty, providing important evidence for understanding the structural layout and architectural system of Dongjing City in the Northern Song Dynasty. Three new archaeological discoveries in Huai'an City reflect the history of the development of towns, the evolution of human land relations, and the management and changes of river channels along the Grand Canal during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Among them, the Qingchengmen Site is the west gate of the old city of Huai'an, fully revealing the overall pattern of the main city gate, wengcheng, and drainage system. The Xinlu Site is a well preserved and clearly structured Ming Dynasty street and alley site. The Banzha Town Site is a town site from the Ming and Qing dynasties, providing important physical materials for studying issues such as canal transportation, salt transportation, and customs taxation along the Grand Canal. It is reported that the National Cutural Heritage Administration will continue to promote the implementation of the system of "archaeology first, then transfer", continue to increase urban archaeological research and cultural relics protection and utilization, and protect and inherit historical context in accordance with the work idea of "big archaeology".
