The 2024 World Basketball Championships for Middle School Students successfully concluded in Macao on the 2nd, with the men's gold, silver and bronze prizes won by Greece, France and Türkiye respectively; The women's gold, silver, and bronze medals were won by the Chinese team, France, and New Zealand respectively. The men's and women's representative teams in the Macau academic community finished 10th and 11th respectively. This competition is hosted by the International Federation of High School Sports and hosted by the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macau SAR Government. It attracted 37 teams from 20 countries and regions to compete for the championship from June 24th to July 2nd. At the closing ceremony, representatives of participating athletes entered the arena without any order, demonstrating unity and friendship. The representative of the organizers of the event expressed sincere gratitude to Macau, China for its excellent hosting ability and warm hospitality, and congratulated all the players on their enthusiastic performance. At the same time, it is pointed out that teams from various countries and regions have demonstrated professional standards and excellent teamwork spirit, and have gained friendship and fruitful results in competitions and cultural exchanges. The Director of the Education and Youth Development Bureau of the Macao Special Administrative Region Government, Gong Zhiming, pointed out that during this tournament, student athletes from various regions demonstrated superb football skills and a spirit of hard work, which received high attention from the public. This was thanks to the joint efforts of over 600 coaches, athletes, more than 200 referees and staff, over 400 volunteers, media, and audiences. The athletes gained cultural experience and profound friendship in Macau, experiencing the urban charm of the integration of East and West, and the diversity of cultures.
