2024-01-26
Recently, two international conferences focused on developing countries were held in Kampala, the capital of Uganda: the 19th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement and the 3rd South Summit of the Group of 77 and China. The participating countries have issued a "global southern" voice of independence, unity, and mutual benefit to the world, jointly calling for the construction of a more inclusive and reasonable global economic and financial system, and injecting "southern" forces into the construction of a peaceful, just, and prosperous world. This is the venue of the 19th summit of the Non Aligned Movement, which was filmed on January 19th in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Currently, the willingness of the "global South" to unite, cooperate, and seek common development is unprecedentedly strong. The collective rise of developing countries has become an irreversible historical trend, continuously injecting development power into the world. The themes of the two Kampala conferences are "Deepening Cooperation, Sharing Global Prosperity" and "No One Can Leave Behind", with the common task of strengthening South South cooperation. Uganda's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Adonia Ayebare, stated that countries in the southern world have awakened and realized the need to share technology through South South cooperation and demonstrate unity through mutual assistance. Peace and stability are conditions for achieving better development in southern countries around the world. Faced with a turbulent and changing world, developing countries are making greater efforts to pursue and promote peace, continuously injecting the power of peace into the world. The 19th Summit of the Non Aligned Movement adopted the Kampala Declaration, emphasizing the need to continue strengthening South South and North South cooperation, fully respecting international law and consensus principles, and jointly addressing the threats and challenges faced by developing countries in promoting economic development and social progress. The outcome document of the Third South Summit also calls for an end to the Ukrainian crisis and the Israeli Palestinian conflict as soon as possible, and to prevent the spillover of geopolitical crises from dragging down the economic development of developing countries. On January 21st, UN Secretary General Guterres (second from right) attended the third South Summit of the Group of 77 and China held in Kampala, the capital of Uganda. Faced with the abuse of political and economic hegemony by the United States and Western countries, disrupting the international order and causing imbalances in global governance structures, developing countries urgently demand greater voice on the international stage, promoting world multipolarity and democratization of international relations, and continuously injecting the power of change into the world. In recent years, the dissatisfaction of the "global South" towards the hegemonism of the United States and the West has become increasingly loud, and their common demand is to establish a more just and reasonable international order. Cuban Vice President Salvador Mesa stated that developing countries should take coordinated and effective actions to change the unjust international order and overcome the "absolute disadvantage" that has been pushed by the West for centuries. As the largest developing country, a partner of the Non Aligned Movement, and a member of the "Global South", China has always stood on the side of developing countries and contributed to the common development of southern countries around the world. Last year, during the 15th Leaders' Meeting held in Johannesburg, South Africa, the BRICS countries successfully achieved expansion, and China has always been an active promoter of BRICS expansion. The African Union has become a formal member of the G20, and China is the first to express its clear support and support for the African Union to play a greater role in global governance. From promoting the establishment of the New Development Bank to provide a strong guarantee for the infrastructure construction and sustainable development of developing countries, to embarking on a road of mutual benefit, win-win results and common development with developing countries through the joint construction of the "the Belt and Road", China is sincerely working with developing countries to jointly move towards modernization. During the Non Aligned Movement Summit and the Third South Summit, UN Secretary General Guterres and representatives from multiple countries expressed their praise for China's consistent and unconditional assistance to developing countries. Independence and self-reliance are the political foundation of southern countries around the world, unity and self-improvement are the glorious traditions of southern countries around the world, development and revitalization are the historical missions of southern countries around the world, and fairness and justice are the common demands of southern countries around the world. The collective rise of developing countries and the increasing international influence of the "global South" have made the trend of world multipolarity more irreversible, and have also made people more confident in the future of the world and more hopeful for human unity. China will work with developing countries to advocate for an equal and orderly world multipolarity and inclusive economic globalization, promoting a bright future of peace, security, prosperity, and progress in the world.
