According to the Civil Aviation Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government, domestically developed C919 and ARJ21 aircraft will make their first visit to Hong Kong on the 12th and stay there until the 17th. This will be the first time a C919 aircraft has visited a city outside of mainland China. ARJ21 is the first domestically designed and manufactured turbofan regional passenger aircraft in China. It was put into commercial operation in 2016 and officially delivered to overseas customers in 2022, entering the international market. The C919 is a large passenger aircraft designed, manufactured, and certified for airworthiness in strict accordance with internationally recognized airworthiness standards. The first commercial C919 was delivered to the airline in December 2022 and put into service in 2023. The successful development of these two civil aviation aircraft is an important milestone in the national aviation manufacturing industry. This event was jointly organized by the Civil Aviation Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Hong Kong Airport Authority. Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China Limited was invited to send C919 and ARJ21 aircraft to visit Hong Kong. The Chief Executive of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Li Jiachao, welcomed the first visit of C919 and ARJ21 aircraft to Hong Kong. He said that this fully reflects the country's emphasis on the development of Hong Kong's aviation industry and its role as an international aviation hub. Both the National 14th Five Year Plan and the Outline Development Plan for the Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area clearly support the consolidation of Hong Kong's position as an international aviation hub. These two types of aircraft will each arrive at Hong Kong International Airport on the 12th and will undergo a static display within a fixed area of the airport. Representatives from the aviation industry, as well as representatives from youth groups and regional organizations, will be arranged to board and visit. Another highlight of this event is the flight demonstration on the 16th. If the weather conditions permit on that day, the C919 aircraft will take off from Hong Kong International Airport, fly over Victoria Harbour, and fly around Hong Kong Island twice. At that time, citizens can witness the charm of domestically produced large aircraft. On the afternoon of the 16th, representatives of COMAC will be invited to meet with young people at the headquarters of the Civil Aviation Administration of China to share knowledge about the two aircraft. Two planes will depart and return to Shanghai on the afternoon of the 17th.
