Promoting 5g evolution requires ecological mobilization

However, in the more high-speed bullet trains, the power is scattered in each compartment, and the speed is mainly determined by the power of the whole vehicle. Only when all the cars "work together" can the car run faster. China's 5g evolution needs the entire industrial ecology to move if it wants to run faster. At present, 5g network construction in China has made remarkable achievements. According to the data of the Ministry of industry and information technology, the total number of 5g base stations in China has reached 1.6 million, which is the first country in the world to build a 5g network in the form of 5g independent networking. With the expansion of 5g network scale and user scale, industry application cases and commercial landing projects are increasing. Some new demands hope that 5g network can realize some new capabilities in the future evolution and upgrading. Last year, China Mobile, together with Huawei and other 20 enterprises, released the 5g advanced (hereinafter referred to as 5g-a) dual chain integration action plan, which identified the three development directions and ten technologies of 5g-a. Recently, around 5g-a, China Mobile and Huawei jointly launched four evolving "model houses" in the mode of China Mobile's solution and Huawei's product realization. These "model houses" are technological attempts from 0 to 1, aiming to build confidence in the industry and lay a foundation for subsequent technological innovation, standard formulation and application. What kind of network will 5g-a be in the future? We see that experts describe it as "10 trillion experience and 100 billion connection". These are two directions. One direction is that in terms of network bandwidth, the 10 Gigabit experience is equivalent to 10Gbps, which is five times the 2gbps of the downlink peak of 5g current network. It is oriented to applications such as two-way holographic communication, XR pro, 3D machine vision, tactile Internet, etc. The other direction is in terms of total connection capacity. The connection capacity of 100 billion is to connect more objects and perceive more objects in the network. It should be connected, sensed, controlled and controlled to reflect all units of the physical world into the digital world, so as to turn the connection scale of 10 billion in the 5g era into the connection scale of 100 billion in the 5.5G era, and drive the upgrading of industrial digital intelligence. At present, China Mobile and Huawei are the core driving forces driving the evolution of the entire industry in this direction. As the world's most advanced 5g operator with the largest network scale and the largest number of service users, China Mobile has opened 850000 5g base stations. It is expected that by the end of this year, it will have more than 1million stations and more than 330million customers. Huawei is one of the 5g equipment manufacturers with strong R & D capability, productization capability and commercial landing capability. However, facing the evolution of 5g-a, the strong support of only two leading enterprises is far from enough. As described at the beginning of the article, if 5g-a wants to achieve rapid development, it must give impetus to every link. It needs to fully carry out ecological mobilization to promote the rapid development of the whole industry in a decentralized way. According to the evolution roadmap of 5g-a, it corresponds to 5g R18 standard. At the beginning of this year, the first batch of R18 standards had been approved, and the highlight of the project was XR business. Therefore, 5g-a's ecological mobilization, first of all, should resonate with enterprises and institutions developing metauniverse and XR technology, and conduct in-depth integration to jointly discuss future business models, bottlenecks and feasible solutions. Secondly, attract relevant enterprises and institutions to participate in the formulation of 5g-a standards as soon as possible, and lay the foundation for future large-scale development with standardization. The digital factory and digital twin scenarios that 5g-a designed for the 100 billion connection also need to be designed jointly with more application parties to design the business model and roadmap for the final realization of the digital factory and digital twin. As the 5g network evolves forward, it should be more integrated with all walks of life. It will be easier to implement the technology in the future only if the application side puts forward more specific, detailed and targeted requirements for the technology. While mobilizing the ecology, great efforts should be made to improve the short board of the current 5g industrial chain. For example, the high price of 5g modules has always been a "stumbling block" to the large-scale deployment of 5g in the industry. To promote 5g modules in 2B market, we are faced with the dual challenges of immature business model and immature module industry chain. Can we first use modules in 2C market, drive the decline of module costs with large-scale market, feed back 2B market, and jump out of the logic trap of "chicken or egg first". The mobilization of ecology is also a process of deeply exploring the technical value of 5g-a. China Mobile has realized this. Gaotongqing, vice president of China Mobile, believes that it is necessary to combine the experience in promoting 3G, 4G and 5g technology verification and industrial development, focus on promoting 5g-a industrial innovation base, take meeting commercial demand as the fundamental starting point, and build a closed-loop industrial platform for technology, market, products and investment in the Internet of things, the Internet of vehicles and other fields, so as to drive the development of the whole industrial chain.
